Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Il Kang served under The Independent Board in Kenya at the Bible College of East Africa from 1998 through 2000. Reappointed in 2003, the Kangs have continued as an integral part of the BCEA ministry, as well as their own outreach ministries around Nairboi.
In 2001 a Bible study and church ministry began at Limuru. The seeds of the Limuru church came about with a young men’s soccer team, and has grown to now include adults. Caleb has recently initiated a computer class at Limuru in order to give the youth of the church better employment opportunities. Other areas that will help the young people with employment are being researched.
At Ngarariga, Caleb works with Pastor Lazarus, ministering to those who are struggling with drugs, alcohol and other moral issues. Although resistance to the Gospel is strong, the Kangs are confident that the truth of the Scriptures will prevail. In order to accomplish this they are relying on evangelism and Scripture based lessons and programs to educate the people in Biblical living.
Since 2003 Caleb has also been supporting the Narok church with leadership, training and encouragement. The Narok ministry, some three hours drive from BCEA, is attempting to reach the un-reached tribe. Praise God that in late 2004 they had a baptismal service with IBPFM missionary Rev. Byung Kye Kim. It was a great time as many came together to rejoice in what the Lord is doing.
Caleb also has a burden for the students at the United States International University (USIS), located near the BCEA campus. Although the school does not officially allow any Gospel witness on its properties, Caleb is hopeful that through personal witnessing with students off campus, Christ will be know by more students.
In January 2006 the Caleb, Debbie, and Joshua returned to the USA for there scheduled furlough. Lord willing they will be departing in the spring of 2008 for Guatemala.
